Yang Jiechi Holds Talks with Japanese Foreign Minister Okada Katsuya

On August 28, 2010, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with Japanese Foreign Minister Okada Katsuya, who is here in Beijing for the China-Japan high-level economic dialogue. Yang said that the third China-Japan high-level economic dialogue co-chaired by Vice Premier Wang Qishan and Japanese Foreign Minister Okada Katsuya is of great significance to planning for and enhancing bilateral economic and trade cooperation in the post-financial crisis era. China attaches great importance to the dialogue and believes that it will have significant impact on pushing for sustained and in-depth development of strategic reciprocal relations between the two countries. Katsuya said that he was very glad to come to China for the third China-Japan high-level economic dialogue. Japan is ready to have candid and in-depth discussions with the Chinese side on the international economic and financial situation as well as bilateral economic and trade cooperation in a bid to further enrich the strategic reciprocal relations between the two countries. The two foreign ministers exchanged views on further advancing high-level exchanges, cultural and people-to-people contacts, as well as on international and regional issues of common concern. They agreed the second meeting of the Fifth China-Japan Friendship Committee for the 21st Century will be held in Tokyo and Niigata, Japan from October 30 to November 3.
