Bangladesh Observing National Mourning Day in Respect to the Victims of China Earthquake

On May 21, 2008 Bangladesh observed National Mourning Day. Bangladesh President's Office, Supreme Court, Parliament House and Bangladesh Secretariat hoisted the national flag at half-mast in respect to the earthquake victims in Sichuan Province, China.

Army leaders including Lieut. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, acting Army chief, Vice Admiral S J Nizam, Chief of Naval Staff, Air Marshal S M Ziaur Rahman, Chief of Air Staff, business leaders including Mr. Aninisul Huq, President of FBCCI, Mr. Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury, President of BGMEA, civil society leaders including Mr. Jalauddin, Secretary General of Bangladesh China Friendship Association, regional representatives of international organizations and foreign envoys in Bangladesh came to sign in the condolence book and mourned for the earthquake victims.
