Danish Red Cross is going to build a base camp to Chengdu, capital of China's Sichuan Province, the worst hit area in the earthquake. The base camp will be used for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Cresent (IFRC) staff, who are there to assist the relief and reconstruction work. Secretary General of Danish Red Cross, Anders Ladekarl, expresses his pride in the role that Danish Red Cross plays. He also mentions that the relief work is fully underway in China, and the Chinese Government is doing its best in offering assistance to the Red Cross movement. The packed base camp will on June 07 be carried directly from Billund to Chengdu by a charter flight, while the Danish technician will fly to China on June 11 from Copenhagen. The Chinese Embassy in Denmark has given full support to the Danish Red Cross in this matter, in terms of issuing visas and acquiring the fly-over and landing permission from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
