On June 25, 2008, H.E. Ambassador Song Zhe, Head of the Mission of the People's Republic of China to the European Communities met with Ms. An TENGROOTENHUYSEN and Ms. Lin TENGROOTENHUYSEN, directors of the Belgium-China Association. Ambassador Song stated that beginning its foundation in 1957, the Association has been working actively to promote relations between Belgium and China, particularly in 1961, it was instrumental in the visit by Queen Elisabeth of Belgium to China, which laid foundation for diplomatic ties between China and Belgium in the years after. Ambassador Song expressed heartfelt thanks to the two sisters and Belgium-China Association for their efforts over so many years for the development of China-Belgium and China-EU relations and hoped that they will continue to make fresh contribution to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between China and Belgium and between China and Europe.

Ms. An Tengrootenhuysen and Ms. Lin Tengrootenhuysen thanked Ambassador for his kind words. They gave a brief introduction to the work of Belgium-China Association and presented the latest edition of China Vandaag magazine which carries Ambassador Song's talk over the Beijing Olympic Games.
