Charge d' Affaires Wang Yu Attends Huawei's Donation Ceremony

On July 16 a donation ceremony from Huawei Technologies (Bangaldesh) Ltd to Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) was held in Dhaka. Mr. Hossain Zillur Rahman, Hon'ble Adviser for Commerce and Education, Prof. M Tamim, Special Assistant for Chief Adviser, Mr. Wang Yu, Charge d' Affaires of Chinese Embassy, Dr. A. M. M. Safiullah, Vice Chancellor of BUET attended the ceremony.

Adviser Zillur spoke highly of China's remarkable contribution to Bangladeshi social and economic development and expressed gratitude to Chinese enterprises including Huawei for their active involvement in the promotion of Bangladesh social and educational development. He said Bangladesh and Chinese people enjoy a traditional friendship. It is hoped that bilateral cooperation in various fields can be further deepened and expanded. He wished a big success of Beijing 2008 Olympics.

In his speech, Charge d' Affaires, Mr. Wang Yu said with incessant innovation and hard work, Huawei has become a global leading telecom solution provider. Meanwhile, Huawei has actively taken on social responsibilities, and set a good example for other Chinese enterprises. Chinese government will as always encourage more competitive Chinese companies to come and do trade and investment in Bangladesh and contribute to Bangladesh social and economic development.

BUET is the top university of its kind in Bangladesh and enjoys a century-old history. The USD 3 million GSM data communication equipment donated by Huawei is to help BUET to set up a GSM data communication lab and training center.
