The "Photo Exhibition: Wenchuan Earthquake in China" in Menlyn Park, Pretoria went on well during 22~28 of July, 2008. Hundreds of people came to see the photos everyday, and were greatly moved. People wrote words on the condolence book, expressing their deepest sympathies and sincere support to the Chinese Government and people. Many people kindly offered to make donations to help the people in quake-hit areas to rebuild their homeland.
A brief ceremony of the exhibition was held on 25th July, at which South African Deputy Foreign Minister Aziz Pahad, foreign ambassadors to South Africa and many other distinguished guests were present.
On the occasion of the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Mr. Zhong Jianhua expressed heartfelt gratitude to the South African Government and people, to the Chinese community in South Africa and the international community who have extended heartfelt condolences to the Chinese Government and people and fully in support of international efforts for humanitarian relief. "We will never forget these friends truly in need," says Ambassador Zhong.
