From July 31 to August 2, Ambassador Zhang Junsai paid an official visit to South Australia. During the visit, Ambassador Zhang met the Governor Kevin Scarce, the Premier Mike Rann, the Adelaide Major Harbison and other senior officials and representatives from business and education circles, exchanging views deeply and broadly with them on the cooperation in various fields in which both sides have interests.

The Ambassador visited the Adelaide Zoo and planted a Dwarf Chinese Elm tree, attended the Premier's game Appeal Dinner, Mayor's Launch of the Hong Kong Australia Association of South Australia Chapter Reception as well as the Chinese Community's welcoming dinner. He also visited some enterprises and met the media.

The Ambassador praised the South Australia as the birthplace of many important reforms in Australian history which is worthy of the name ' State of Innovations'. He said that China and Australia are far away from each other geographically, but since the establishment of diplomatic relations 36 years ago, our ties are increasingly closer, and our two peoples benefit from ever-expanding friendly exchanges and cooperation. He felt encouraged to witness the fast development of relations between China and South Australia during the past years. He expressed his best wishes that Mayor Harbison will have a fruitful and successful forthcoming visit to China and with the warm cheering of the Chinese viewers, the Australian athletes will win even more medals and achieve better results in Beijing.
