On June 19, 2009, H. E. Mr. Song Zhe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Head of the Mission of the People's Republic of China to the European Communities Met President Martens of the European People's Party.

The two sides give a positive assessment of the sound momentum of development in China-EU relations and believed that China and the EU, as two important forces should further develop close cooperation. Both sides expressed willingness to work together to continue to promote the healthy and stable development of China-EU relations.
