On July 7, 2009, H. E. Mr. Song Zhe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of the Mission of the People's Republic of China to the European Communities meets with EU Trade Commissioner Ashton.

The two sides give a positive assessment of China-EU relations in the first half of this year, especially economic and trade cooperation, and expressed willingness to further strengthen cooperation and jointly promote the development of economic and trade relations between China and the EU, and contribute to the world economic recovery as soon as possible.
