H.E. Mr. Yang Youming, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Trinidad and Tobago, called on Brigadier Edmund Dillon, Chief of Defence Staff on Jan. 14, 2010. Senior officers of the Regiment, the Coast Guard and the Air Guard of Trinidad and Tobago were present. Ambassador Yang was invited to luncheon with the Brigadier and his staff after the meeting.

Ambassador Yang thanked Brigadier Dillon for the cordial welcome, spoke highly of the development of the cooperation in the political, economic and security fields between China and Trinidad and Tobago. He expressed his appreciation that Trinidad and Tobago has always adhered to the One China policy and expressed the willingness of the Chinese side to further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation in the security field with Trinidad and Tobago, and deepen the friendly relationship of mutual benefits between the two countries.

Brigadier Dillon extended his warm welcome to Ambassador Yang and agreed with Ambassador Yang for his comments on the bilateral relationship between China and Trinidad and Tobago. He reassured that Trinidad and Tobago will continue to uphold the One China policy, and is willing to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation in the security and other fields with China, and to promote the continued development of relations between T&T and China.
