MOU on Financial Services Cooperation Hailed

China and Malta, albeit far apart and differs in size and population, has successfully developed a muti-facet mutually beneficial relations, would continue forging ahead despite the current dismayed world economic situation. Chinese Ambassador Zhang keyuan remarked on a ceremony to mark the signing of A Memorandum of Understanding between the China Securities Regulatory Commission and the Malta Financial Services Authority was signed today in Malta on 26 Jan.2010.
Addressing a press conference with the Hon. Tonio Fenech, Minister of Finance, Economy and Investment of Malta, Ambassador Zhang also noted the MOU as a special gift for the 38th anniversary of the Sino-Maltese relationship which falls coincidently in Jan. He assured his best personal commitment to help foster and develop Sino-Maltese relations during his tour of duty in malta. Minister Fenech welcomed the signing of the MOU as an important development for the Maltese financial services sector. He augurs new opportunity of cooperation shall be facilitated to open up MFSA regulated funds to one of the world's largest pools of private capital in China.
The MOU was signed by Chairman Shang Fulin of CSRC and Professor Joe Bannister, Chairman of MFSA. It aims to enhance exchange and cooperation on securities regulation, promoting healthy development of their respective capital market and facilitating business by financial institutions in either country.
