On Jan. 27, 2010, H.E. Mr. Yang Youming, Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, made a courtesy call on the Honourable Mr. Conrad Enill, Minister of Energy.

Minister Enill extended his welcome to Ambassador Yang and Ambassador Yang thanked the Minister for the meeting. Both the Ambassador and the Minister agreed that China and Trinidad and Tobago enjoy increasingly closer political and economic ties, and trade and economic cooperation are continuing to expand. Minister Enill remarked the Chinese companies have made important contribution to the economic development of his country. He said that Trinidad and Tobago, based on its oil and gas resources, is gradually diversifying its economy by developing both the upstream and downstream industries, and is willing to strengthen cooperation in these areas with China.

Ambassador Yang said that Trinidad and Tobago is an important country in the Caribbean region with its economic development. The Chinese side always attaches importance to its friendly relationship with Trinidad and Tobago and is willing to explore and further develop cooperation in the energy and other sectors with the Trinidad and Tobago side.
