Mr. Yang Youming, Chinese ambassodor to Trinidad and Tobago, and his wife Mrs. Geng Hailing hosted the event, and some one hundred guests, including other staff members of the Embassy, representatives from Chinese companies, other sponsors and supporters for the Troupe's visit were present.

The Steel Ensemble started the evening with a popular song " I Love Beijing Tain'anmen". The band and the troupe then played their best pieces in turn to the applause and acknowledgement from the audience. The artists from Tianjin, out of excitement and curiosity when seeing steel pans for the first time, played with their traditional Chinese instruments "Oh Sweet Love" to the accompaniment of the steel pans, and pushed the evening to its peak of excitement. Two dancers from the Troupe, who could not resist the temptation of the soca beat, offered an impromptu dance that won them a big clap of hands.
The evening ended with guests left their seats for jump-ups. One steal pan player remarked that to play together with Chinese artists was their dream, and they were fortunate to witness a historic moment of two different cultures meeting with each other this evening.
