Liberian President Paid Tribute to Chinese Peacekeepers

Zwedru, Liberia, March 3, 2010-Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has commended Chinese Peacekeepers in Liberia for their indispensable role and constructive contributions towards this war-torn country during her tour of Chinese UN Peacekeeping Engineering Contingent Base in Zwedru, Liberia.
Accompanied by H.E. Zhou Yuxiao, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, and a team of her cabinet ministers, President Sirleaf inspected the Chinese Peacekeepers who lined up welcoming the visiting guests. During her visit, President Sirleaf commeded Chinese Peacekeepers who are now working tirelessly and devotedly in this west africa coutry as contributing not only to the security and peace of Liberia but also to the postwar reconstruction and development by helping locals build and renovate some public facilities such as bridges, roads etc., and providing free medical treatments to local communities. The Chinese Peacekeepers were also challenged by President Sirleaf to do more by using their equipments, expertise and experiences for locals. Present at the Liberian President's inspection were also the Chinese Medical Contingent Peacekeepers stationing in Zwedru. The Liberian President's visit to Chinese Peacekeeping Contingent Base came as her cabinet held working retreat session at Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.
