Ambassador Yang Youming calls on Minister of Finance

Ambassador Yang Youming called on the Minister of Finance of Trinidad and Tobago, Honourable Winston Dookeran on Aug. 27th, 2010.
Ambassador Yang congratulated the Minister for taking new office. He said Trinidad and Tobago is a very important country in the Caribbean and the Chinese Government values its relations with the country. He said that both China and Trinidad and Tobago are developing countries and shared the same experience of fighting against colonialism and strive for national independence, and now are faced with the same task of developing our economies and improve people's living standard. The two countries therefore understand, support and cooperate with each other better. In recent years, the bilateral relations have developed rapidly in many fields with tangible results. The cooperation between the two sides is based on mutual benefits and common development. The Chinese side wishes to further develop the existing relations on the basis of equality and mutual benefits. Minister Dookeran said he had been to China and was deeply impressed by China's economic achievements. China's experience in the economic development is something that Trinidad and Tobago can learn. He himself and the new Government wish to continue to develop friendly cooperation with China. The two exchanged views on cooperation in the area of investment. Minister Dookeran told the Ambassador that China is welcome to increase its investment in Trinidad and Tobago.
