Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun Visits Saudi Arabia

From May 23 to 25, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun paid a visit to Saudi Arabia. During his visit, Zhai met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud bin Faisal bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud and other Saudi Arabian officials in Jeddah. Both sides exchanged views on China-Saudi Arabia relations and regional and international issues of common concern. Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Yang Honglin attended the meeting. During the meeting, Zhai said China attaches great importance to ties with Saudi Arabia and is ready to work with the country to continuously expand bilateral exchanges based on mutual benefits and deepen friendly cooperation in all areas for the benefit of both peoples. Prince Saud bin Faisal bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud said Saudi Arabia appreciates China's just position on regional and international issues, emphasizing that the Saudi Arabian leaders view ties with China from a strategic perspective. Saudi Arabia is ready to work with China to push bilateral ties to a new level, he added.
