On November 24, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun met in the Foreign Ministry with an inspection delegation of cadres from the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) headed by Abbas Zaki, a member of the Fatah central committee. Both sides exchanged views on such issues as bilateral ties and the situation in Palestine and Israel.

Zaki made positive comments on Palestine-China relations and appreciated China's long-term support for Palestinian people's just cause of striving for the restoration of their legitimate national rights. Zaki introduced the latest developments of Palestinian-Israeli peace talks and Fatah's efforts of realizing Palestinian internal unity.

Zhang said that China will always support Palestine to realize its goal of building an independent Palestine state at an early date through political negotiations and is ready to continue to play a constructive role in pushing forward the Middle East peace process.
