Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao Meets with Representatives of Overseas Chinese Attending the Third Session of the Eleventh CPPCC National Committee as Nonvoting Delegates

On March 11, 2010, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao met in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with representatives of overseas Chinese who were invited to attend the Third Session of the Eleventh CPPCC National Committee as nonvoting delegates in Beijing.
Song extended warm welcome to the representatives on behalf of the foreign ministry, pointing out that by attending the session as nonvoting delegates they shoulder the glorious mission and important responsibility of offering advice and suggestions on the development of the country. It reflects the attention and care of the motherland (home country) to tens of millions of overseas Chinese around the world. He paid high tribute to the overseas Chinese for their long-term contributions to promoting China's modernization construction, advancing its peaceful reunification and enhancing its exchanges and cooperation with their residence countries and expressed sincere gratitude for their years of great support for the diplomatic work. Song also introduced China's current diplomatic work and the international and domestic situation and encouraged them to continue to work for the construction and development of the motherland (home country). The overseas Chinese representatives felt highly honored of being invited to the CPPCC session as nonvoting delegates and proud of their motherland (home country)'s political, economic and social progress and development which will encourage them to work even harder to play an active role in building harmonious overseas Chinese communities and supporting the development of the motherland (home country). There are altogether 38 representatives of overseas Chinese attending the CPPCC session as nonvoting delegates from 21 countries and regions.
