Hui Liangyu Meets with Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Vasyunyk

On October 22, 2008, Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai with Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Ivan Vasyunyk, who is here for a visit and to co-host with China the 10th meeting of China-Ukraine Joint Economic and Trade Committee.

Hailing the smooth and sound progress of bilateral ties since the establishment of diplomatic ties, Hui said both sides had maintained frequent high-level visits and conducted fruitful cooperation in various fields. The two sides have also supported each other in international affairs. Hui hoped the two countries would join hands to promote bilateral relations up to a new high.

Hui said the economic and trade cooperation is an important part of bilateral ties. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, bilateral trade volume has increased by nearly 30 times. He expressed hope that both sides will continuously expand new areas for cooperation and further tap potential for cooperation in the areas of agriculture, science and technology, tourism and infrastructure construction in a bid to enhance the level of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Vasyunyk regarded the just-concluded joint committee meeting as pragmatic and fruitful, adding his country attached great importance to relations with China and was ready to further cement bilateral trade cooperation.
