Dai Bingguo Meets with Chairman of the Commission of the African Union Jean Ping

On August 10, 2008, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo met in Zhongnanhai with Chairman of the Commission of the African Union Jean Ping, who is here for the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.

Dai spoke highly of the African situation and the China-Africa relations, saying that China values the AU's role in the region and in the international affairs, and supports the work of the AU Commission. China is ready to work with the African nations and the African Union (AU) to promote the growth of China-Africa relations, said Dai.

Jean Ping extended congratulations to the successful operation of the ceremony. He said African nations and peoples were satisfied with the sound development of Africa-China relations. The AU is willing to strengthen political dialogue with China, and to push forward the existing sound cooperation between the two sides.
