Wen Jiabao Meets with Hungarian Prime Minister

On August 14, 2008, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai, with Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany, who is here to watch the Beijing Olympic Games. Wen welcomed Gyurcsany to watch the Olympic Games and wished Hungarian athletes good results at the games. Wen also expressed gratitude for the sympathy of Hungary after the massive May 12 earthquake in southwest Sichuan Province, in particular its arrangement of sending 50 recuperating children to Hungary, which, said Wen, represents the profound feelings held by the Hungarian side toward the Chinese people. China valued its traditional friendship with Hungary and would take the 60th anniversary of bilateral ties in the coming year as an opportunity to push forward friendly exchange sand mutually beneficial cooperation, Wen said. Gyurcsany expressed his best wishes for the Beijing Olympic Games. He said Hungary followed a friendly policy towards China and hoped to enhance high-level contacts and economic, trade and investment cooperation and cultural exchanges with China. Hungary would like to play a positive role in promoting relations between China and the European Union.
