On October 24, 2008, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Slovenian President Danilo Turk at the Great Hall of the People.

China and Slovenia had been working hard to develop the equal, friendly and mutually beneficial relations since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992, which not only brought the two peoples practical benefits, but also injected energy into the China-Europe relations, said Wen. He said that China would like to work with Slovenia to earnestly implement consensus reached by both sides, strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and infrastructure and enhance personnel exchanges to raise the friendly cooperative Sino-Slovenian relations to a new high.

Expressing appreciation for China's friendly policies to Slovenia, Turk said his country was willing to enhance political dialogues and expand cooperation in trade, finance and tourism in a bid to push forward bilateral ties.
