On January 26, 2011, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun met in the Foreign Ministry with Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Mohamed Higazy.

Zhang made positive comments on China-Egypt relations, saying that China and Egypt are good friends and good partners. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries. China attaches great importance to developing ties with Egypt, he said, adding that against the background of the profound changes in the current international and regional situation, China is ready to work with Egypt to keep high-level exchanges, deepen political trust, expand economic and trade cooperation and enhance communication and coordination in major international and regional issues, to continuously deepen China-Egypt strategic cooperative relations.

Higazy noted that Egypt attaches great importance to developing ties with China and is ready to expand all-round cooperation with China and push bilateral strategic cooperation for new outcomes.
