Afghan President Meets with Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei

On December 5, 2005, Afghan President Hamid Karzai met with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei in Kabul. At the meeting, Karzai made highly positive comments on the positive achievements in China's reform and opening up, indicated that Afghanistan deems China's development as an important opportunity for its own progress and thanked for China's precious support and assistance for Afghanistan's process of peaceful reconstruction over the past four years. He added that his country would like to work with China to continuously push bilateral relations to a new height. Wu made positive remarks on bilateral relations, indicating that the friendly exchanges between both countries go back to ancient times and bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the areas of politics, economy and culture have been steadily deepened. China attaches great importance to bilateral relations and would like to as always support and take part in Afghanistan's reconstruction process and support it to strengthen regional cooperation and promote common development with neighboring countries.
