On the afternoon of July 22, Chairman Jia Qinglin of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) met with Diplomatic Advisor Rahman to the Bangladeshi government in the Great Hall of the People. Jia said that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Bangladesh. Over the past 30 years the bilateral high-level exchanges remain frequent and political mutual trust gets increasingly strengthened. In April this year during Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to Bangladesh the two sides established the all-round partnership and reached a series of important consensus on the friendly exchanges and cooperation in various fields. China supports Bangladesh's efforts of maintaining national sovereignty and independence and expects to take tangible measures together with Bangladesh to continue implementing the consensus reached between Premier Wen and his Bangladeshi counterpart, constantly expand the mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields, especially in economy and trade and promote continuous progress of China-Bangladesh friendly and cooperative relations. Jia thanked the Bangladeshi side for its resolute support for China on the questions of Taiwan, Tibet and human rights over years. Rahman said that the Bangladeshi government and people attach great importance to the relations with China, support China's principled stance and proposition on the Taiwan and Tibet questions and expect to further push forward the bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation and enrich the all-round partnership between the two countries. Bangladesh is willing to continue working closely with China on major international and regional issues in a bid to jointly protect the interest of developing countries.
