Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks with visiting Brunei Foreign and Trade Minister Prince Mohamed Bolkiah on September 5, 2006. Li spoke highly of the remarkable achievements scored in various fields in China-Brunei cooperation since the two nations forged diplomatic ties, saying China would make joint efforts with Brunei to push forward the bilateral ties. Mohamed Bolkiah agreed to Li's comments on the relations between the two nations and reaffirmed Brunei's adherence to the one-China principle. He said the development of the bilateral ties is not only in the interest of both nations and peoples, but also beneficial to the peace and development of the region. The two sides exchanged views on cooperation in many fields, including economy and trade, and other international and regional issues of common concern. After the talks, Li and Mohamed Bolkiah, on behalf of their governments, signed a MOU on tourism cooperation between the two governments and jointly attended the publishing ceremony of "Collection of Historical Documents on China-Brunei Relations". Mohamed Bolkiah arrived in Beijing on September 3 for an official visit to China as Li's guest.
