On July 8, 2006, State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with Ichiro Aisawa, acting secretary general of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party as well as a Diet member, and his delegation, who were here for the Sino-Japanese youth friendship forum. Both sides exchanged views on Sino-Japanese relations and the situation in Northeast Asia.

Tang hoped that young Japanese legislators will become the driving force in promoting Sino-Japanese friendship and play a positive role in realizing a sound and steady development of bilateral ties.

President of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) Yang Wenchang, Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei and other officials attended the meeting.
