Spokesperson on the complaints by some Chinese passengers of Flight JL 782

2001/03/01

Q: It is said that the Japan Airline (JAL) sent the other day a letter to the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry on the complaints by some Chinese passengers of Flight JL 782. Could you confirm that?

A: On February 22, we expressed concerned over the unfair treatment suffered by some Chinese passengers of JAL flight 782, hoping that the JAL authorities would quickly and successfully resolve the matter in a serious and responsible manner and without delay. On February 27, JAL sent a letter to the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, saying that JAL respects and responds to the hope of the Chinese Foreign Ministry for a successful settlement of the matter of complaints by some Chinese passengers. It promises to make every effort to conduct in a serious and responsible manner investigations without delay. It also pledges to release the outcome while the investigations are underway. JAL says that it harbors profound feelings toward the Chinese people and has great expectations for China market. The criticism and viewpoints of Chinese passengers will become a driving force for the improvement of JAL services. We attach importance to JAL?s statement and hope that JAL will translate it into real actions and properly solve this matter as soon as possible.
