Wen Jiabao Meets with President of the Lao National Assembly Samane

On December 20, 2005, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council Wen Jiabao met at Zhongnanhai with Member of the Political Bureau of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and National Assembly President Samane Vignaket. Wen said that the relations between the two parties and countries have witnessed all-round and in-depth development and the friendly cooperation in various areas has scored remarkable achievements. China has always attached great importance to developing relations with Laos and would like to make joint efforts with Laos to keep close cooperation under the guidance of the policy of "developing comprehensive cooperative relations of long-term stability, good-neighborly friendship and mutual trust" and push bilateral relations to one new level after another. Wen made highly positive comments on the achievements made by the Lao people in economic and social development and indicated belief that under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Lao people will surely make continuous progress in the reform cause and build a more wonderful country. Samane said that both countries are "good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners". Laos thanks for China's disinterested assistance for a long period of time and would like to continuously deepen good-neighborly and friendly cooperation with China in accordance with this "four-good" spirit. The Lao National Assembly would like to continue strengthening friendly exchanges with the National People's Congress (NPC) of China and make efforts for building up the friendship between both peoples and deepening bilateral relations. Both sides also exchanged views on bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as parliamentary exchanges and other issues.
