Premier Wen Jiabao Meets with Mongolian President Enkhbayar

On November 28, 2005, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council met with Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar in the Great Hall of the People. Wen said that the land borderline between both sides is over 4,700 kilometers long and is always a link for friendship and cooperation between both peoples. China appreciates Mongolia for taking relations with China as one of "priorities " in its foreign policies and would like to continue adhering to the foreign policy of treating neighbors well and as partners and work with Mongolia to advance bilateral partnership pf good-neighborliness and mutual trust in an all-round manner. Wen pointed out that bilateral economic and trade relations enjoy a sound basis and both sides have conducted effective cooperation in the areas of trade, investment and project contract, as well as multilateral fields. Both sides have entered an important stage of economic development with closer mutual needs and broad cooperation prospect. Bilateral economic and trade cooperation should always adhere to the principle of mutual benefits and focus on enhancing their respective capacity of sustainable development through cooperation in a bid to realize common prosperity. He hoped that both sides will take a long-term perspective to advance bilateral cooperation in the areas of resources exploitation and infrastructure construction in a down-to-earth manner and push for continuous progress of bilateral economic and trade relations. Enkhbayar indicated that bilateral partnership of good-neighborliness and mutual trust has been developing smoothly. Both sides attach great importance to developing bilateral relations. The Mongolian government and people express thanks for China's cooperation in Mongolia's economic development, hope to further expand the scale of bilateral trade and strengthen economic and trade exchanges between neighboring provinces and regions of both sides and welcome China to actively participate in Mongolia's development of agriculture and livestock husbandry, electric power generation and mineral exploitation, as well as construction of infrastructure including railway and roads. Mongolia would like to draw lessons from China's successful experience in the construction of economic development zones. Enkhbayar also expressed solicitude to the Chinese side over the casualties and property losses caused by the recent earthquake disaster in Jiangxi, China.
