Assistant Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai Meets with a Delegation Headed by Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia

On October 26, 2006, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai met with a delegation headed by Director Ochirjav Ochir of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, who were here in China for the 8th China-Mongolia consular consultation meeting. Cui welcomed Ochirjav to come to China for the consular consultations and made positive comments on the sound development of bilateral ties and achievements in consular cooperation. Cui pointed out bilateral friendship conforms to the fundamental and long-term interest of the two peoples. The leaders of the two countries attach great importance to China-Mongolia ties and have provided political guidance for the development of good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust, he said. The consular cooperation can promote and standardize personnel exchanges and provide facilitation for cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, culture, science and technology, so as to remove the obstacles to the development of bilateral ties, he said. This is the purpose of consular consultations, he added. Cui hoped that the consular agencies of the two countries will further increase mutual understanding and trust and strengthen cooperation. Ochirjav thanked Cui for trying to find time to meet with him, expressing willingness to contribute to the development of diplomatic and consular relations between the two countries.
