Wu Bangguo Meets with Mongolian Prime Minister Enkhbold

On November 23, 2006, Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), met with Mongolian Prime Minister Miegombyn Enkhbold at the Great Hall of the People. Wu made positive comments on Sino-Mongolian ties. He said the two countries share a traditional friendship, and have witnessed sound development of their relations, marked by frequent high-level visits, deepening political trust, steadily growing trade cooperation, dynamic exchanges and cooperation in all areas and closer coordination in international and regional affairs. As China and Mongolia, both developing nations, are important neighbors of each other, their closer good-neighborly friendship and cooperation of mutual benefit not only comply with the fundamental interests of both peoples, but also benefit peace and development in the region and the world at large, said Wu. Wu pointed out China attaches great importance to Sino-Mongolian ties and is ready to work with Mongolia to deepen trade cooperation concentrating on resources development and infrastructure construction based on equality and mutual benefit and bring enterprises into full play in trade exchanges. He stressed China is ready to expand personnel exchanges, promote humanities contacts, and strengthen inter-parliamentary, inter-party, people-to-people and regional cooperation with Mongolia in an effort to push the friendly cooperation to a higher level. Enkhbold said Mongolia-China relations have entered a new stage as the two countries established good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust. The exchanges of visits between the leaders of the two countries have enriched bilateral ties and the sound inter-parliamentary cooperation plays a positive role in advancing nation-to-nation ties, said Enkhbold. Both sides reached many consensuses on furthering their ties and deepening cooperation in the economic and trade sector during the visit, which proved to be a fruitful one, the Mongolian prime minister added.
