On September 13, 2007, State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met with Myanmar's Foreign Minister U Nyan Win, who is also the special envoy of Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) of Myanmar in Ziguangge Zhongnanhai.

U introduced the latest situation in Myanmar, saying that the government of Myanmar was committed to maintaining domestic stability, national solidity and economic growth and that the government of Myanmar would advance the process of democratization according to the already established guidelines.

Tang said that China, as a friendly neighbor of Myanmar, sincerely hoped that Myanmar could resume domestic stability in the earliest time possible, properly address related issues, vigorously promote national reconciliation, and unswervingly advance the process of democratization suited to the national realities of Myanmar. This not only accords with the fundamental interest of the People of Myanmar and but also benefits peace, stability and development of the region.

Assistant Foreign Minister He Yafei was also present at the meeting.
