Nepalese Leaders Meets with Li Zhaoxing Reaffirming the Adherence to the One-China Policy

On April 1, 2005, Tulsi Giri and Kirtinidhi Bista, Vice-Chairmen of the Council of Ministers of Nepal, met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing at the government building of Nepal respectively. During the meeting, the two Nepalese leaders pleasantly recalled the traditional friendship between China and Nepal and pointed out that the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister to Nepal is conducive to strengthening China-Nepal relations. They indicated that the Nepalese government appreciates China for the long-term support and assistance and highly praises China for the positive role it played in maintaining world peace and promoting common development. They reaffirmed Nepal's stance of pursuing the one-China policy and supports the National People's Congress of China (NPC) passing the Anti-Secession Law. Li Zhaoxing said that China-Nepal relations are ever lasting. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 50 years ago, with the concerted efforts of both nations, both sides treat each other equally, trust each other and support each other. The Chinese side gives top priority to China-Nepal relationship and hopes that the two countries can take the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties to strengthen the cooperation in the fields of politics, culture, education and anti-terrorism and that the two countries can be good friends, partners and neighbours forever. Li Zhaoxing completed his 2-day official visit to Nepal on the afternoon of April 1 local time and left Kathmandu for Maldives.
