Chairman Jia Qinglin Meets with Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Oli

On August 30, 2006, Chairman Jia Qinglin of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) met with visiting Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs K.P. Sharma Oli in the Great Hall of the People.

Jia said the two countries are linked by mountains and rivers and the Chinese and Nepalese peoples share a long history of friendly exchanges and fraternal friendship. Since the founding of bilateral relations, the two countries have conducted sound exchanges and cooperation. Nepal has firmly supported China on Tibet, Taiwan and other questions for a long period of time and will not allow any foreign forces to conduct anti-China activities on the Nepalese territory. The Chinese side expressed appreciation and thanks for this. He said China attaches great importance to developing good-neighborly friendship with Nepal and encourages Tibet Autonomous Region to foster exchanges and cooperation with Nepal. China is willing to join hands with Nepal to promote bilateral good-neighborly partnership.

Oli said the two countries enjoy very friendly relations. He expressed appreciation for the Chinese government and people's long-standing political support and economic assistance, saying his country would adhere to the one-China policy and prohibit any anti-China activity on Nepalese territory. Nepal would like to join China in pushing forward bilateral relations.
