President Musharraf Awards Medal to Li Zhaoxing

On the morning of April 2, 2007, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, who is also Army Chief of Staff, awarded Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Red Crescent Medal, the highest national honor, at the headquarters of the Pakistani Army to acknowledge his important contributions to China-Pakistan friendship. Later, Musharraf and Li held a two-hour meeting in a cordial atmosphere on international issues of common concern, as well as on bilateral ties. On the afternoon of April 3, Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz met with Li and his delegation in the Prime Minister's Palace and held cordial talks with the Chinese side on comprehensively pushing for bilateral economic cooperation. Li conveyed the greetings from President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao to President Musharraf and Prime Minister Aziz respectively and said he looked forward to Prime Minister Aziz's April tour to China. On April 1, Li Zhaoxing held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri. Li expressed warm congratulations on the 60th anniversary of Pakistan's independence, saying that the all-weather friendship and all-round cooperation between the two countries have become noticeable features of bilateral ties. China is ready to work along with Pakistan to make their friendship better serve the two peoples. Kasuri said the deepening Pakistan-China all-weather friendly relations of cooperation have benefited the two peoples over a period of half a century. As Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will soon visit China and attend the annual conference of Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), Kasuri expressed hope that the visit will help elevate bilateral friendly relations to a new level.
