Wen Jiabao Meets with Speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives

On January 10, 2008, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai with Speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives Jose De Venecia.
During the meeting, Wen spoke highly of the Sino-Philippine relations. He said currently bilateral ties enjoy a sound momentum for development with deepening political trust and remarkable achievements in all areas of cooperation. Wen said the two countries are working on an action plan for strategic cooperation, which is an important move to step up bilateral long-term cooperative ties. Wen expressed belief that the move will surely further promote bilateral cooperation in all areas. China attaches great importance to its friendly ties with the Philippines, the premier said, pledging to join hands with the country to elevate bilateral strategic cooperation to a new level. Jose De Venecia expressed appreciation for China's great assistance for his country in the fields of infrastructure, agriculture, fishery and mine industry. He said the substantial cooperation between the two countries has benefited the two peoples, noting that the Philippines looks forward to a higher level of their cooperation. The Philippine House of Representatives will play an active role to further cement bilateral ties, he added.
