On March 21, 2008, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo met with visiting ROK Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Yu Myung-hwan in Zhongnanhai.

Dai said China always sticks to the path of peaceful development and pursues the opening-up strategy of mutual benefits and win-win outcome. China is ready to further enhance relations with ROK and will make concerted efforts with its Asian countries, including the Republic of Korea (ROK), to promote peace, harmony and prosperity in the region, said Dai.

Yu Myung-hwan said that the newly-formed ROK government highly values the ties with China and considers China as an important cooperative partner. The ROK is willing to join hands with China to deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in all areas and play a positive role in improving regional peace and development, Yu Myung-hwan told Dai.
