On January 24, 2008, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with visiting Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Vietnam Pham Gia Khiem. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on China-Vietnam relations and agreed to strengthen the communications and cooperation between the two foreign ministries, implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries on developing the bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields and lift China-Vietnam relations to higher levels.

The two leaders also exchanged opinions on the international and regional issues of common interest.
