Jia Qinglin Meets with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Namhong

On February 6, 2012, Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with visiting Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Namhong at the Great Hall of the People. Jia said China and Cambodia are good neighbors, good friends and good partners and their traditional friendship has a long history. Under the careful cultivation of the generations of leaders of the two countries and the joint efforts of both peoples, China-Cambodia good-neighborly friendship has flourished and is full of vigor and vitality. Currently, China-Cambodia relationship is at its best in history. He praised frequent high-level visits, strengthened mutual political trust and fruitful friendly exchanges and substantial cooperation in all areas, which he said brought tangible benefits to both peoples. Jia said China appreciates Cambodia's firm adherence to the one-China policy and consistent support for China on issues involving Tibet, Xinjiang and other major concerns. "Cambodia is a good friend indeed, a friend that China trusts and relies on," Jia said. "China attaches high importance to its comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation with Cambodia, and will continue to deepen bilateral friendly substantial cooperation so as to uplift the level of the comprehensive strategic cooperation and benefit both sides," said Jia. He also spoke positively of the strategic partnership between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as well as the important role ASEAN has played in promoting east Asian cooperation. Jia said China is ready to join hands with all ASEAN countries, including Cambodia, to continue to contribute to the region's peace, stability and prosperity. Hor Namhong praised the profound traditional friendship between both sides and the substantial development of Cambodia-China relations in recent years. He thanked China for its precious support and assistance in Cambodia's social and economic development. Hor Namhong vowed to work with China to strengthen friendly exchanges and deepen bilateral pragmatic cooperation so as to bring the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation to a new high. Hor Namhong said Cambodia will help promote ASEAN-China strategic partnership and east Asian cooperation.
