On 26 April 2024, Chinese Ambassador Mrs. Guo Haiyan, accompanied by counsellor Mr. Li Hanqing,paid a courtesy call on Representative Office of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations(FAO) in Guyana, then together with Dr. Smith, representative of the Office, visited Guyana Rice Development Board(GRDB) and conducted a site visit on the rice production in Region 5.

Ambassador Guo was briefed about the “Digital transformation and innovation in Agriculture” project promoted by China and FAO, and the progress of “Accelerating Vision 25 by 2025” of CARICOM. The three parties also discussed the possibilities of further cooperation through bilateral channels and within the framework of South-South Cooperation.
