On October 14, 2008, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met in the Foreign Ministry with Chuck Hagel, the Republican senator for the U.S. state of Nebraska. Both sides exchanged views on issues of common concern including Sino-U.S. relations, the U.S. financial crisis and the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.
