China and the U.S. Hold the Third Consultation Meeting on African Affairs

On October 14, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Jendayi Frazer co-chaired the third China-U.S. consultation meeting on African affairs in Beijing.

Both sides introduced the priorities of their respective Africa policy as well as the new developments of their cooperation with Africa. They also exchanged in-depth views on the situation in Africa and regional hot issues. The U.S. side made positive comments on the contributions that China’s cooperation with Africa has made to Africa’s development in recent years. Both sides agreed that China and the U.S. share broad common interest in pushing forward peace, security and development of Africa, expressing willingness to continue dialogue and exchanges on African affairs and discuss cooperation in Africa, so as to promote the cause of peace and development in the continent.
