Chinese Premier Back in Beijing after Visiting Kazakhstan

On October 31, 2008, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao left Astana by special plane for home following his official visit to Kazakhstan.

At the invitation of Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov, Premier Wen Jiabao arrived in Astana on October 29 for a visit, as well as the 7th prime ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries on October 30.

During the visit,Wen met with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and held official talks with Prime Minister Karim Masimov. Both sides issued a joint communiqué between the two governments and signed a range of cooperation documents.

At the 7th prime ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries, Premier Wen raised a range of proposals on implementing the Treaty on Long-term Good-neighborly Relations, Friendship and Cooperation and on furthering pragmatic cooperation among member countries. He also signed the joint communiqué along with heads of delegations from other SCO member countries.
