China and South Africa Hold the Second Strategic Dialogue between the Two Foreign Ministries

On September 17, 2009, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun and Deputy Minister of International Relations and Co-operation of the Republic of South Africa Ebrahim Ismail Ebrahim co-chaired the second strategic dialogue between the two Foreign Ministries in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa.

The Chinese side introduced the implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Beijing Summit of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and preparations for the 4th Ministerial Conference of the FOCAC. Both sides expressed willingness to enhance communication, cooperate closely and work with other members of the forum to ensure the success of the conference.

Both sides jointly reviewed and made positive comments on the development of China-South Africa relations in recent years, pledging to remain committed to further deepening the strategic partnership of equality, mutual benefit and common development between the two countries.

Both sides also exchanged views and reached broad consensus on the international situation and the situation of the regions they are in, as well as international and regional hotspot issues of common concern.
