On the afternoon of November 3, 2006, an exhibition to show the achievements of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation during the six years after its creation was held in the Great Hall of the People. State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan addressed the opening ceremony.

Tang said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the People's Republic of China and African countries and the 6th anniversary of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. The China-Africa friendship is a great achievement attributable to the hard work and careful cultivation of the generations of leaders and people of China and Africa and our common wealth. The establishment of the Forum is the natural result of the sincere friendship, equal treatment and mutual help between China and Africa over several decades and a major measure of both sides to strengthen cooperation and seek common development in the future within the framework of south-south cooperation. It is of great significance to hold the exhibition of the 6-year achievements of the Forum and review the glorious history of China-Africa friendly cooperation, which will surely build up the mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation between China and Africa and show with facts that China and Africa have been and will forever be all-weather friends, good partners and brothers.

It is said that at the exhibition 249 pictures with Chinese, English and French explanations will be displayed, covering 5 categories of political and diplomatic exchanges, economic, trade and agricultural cooperation, educational, scientific, cultural, health and youth exchanges, peace and security and the development of the Forum mechanism and vividly illustrating the close contacts between the leaders of both sides, the joint efforts made by the Chinese and the African people and the dynamic development of China-Africa cooperation over the past 6 years since the establishment of the Forum

Tang Jiaxuan, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai of China, Minister of Foreign Affairs Seyoum Mesfin and Minister of Trade and Industry Sofian Ahmed of Ethiopia which is the co-presidency country of the Forum jointly cut the ribbon for the opening ceremony and visited the exhibition together with the delegates and guests attending the 3rd ministerial conference of the Forum.

The exhibition was hosted by the Chinese Follow-up Committee.
