Premier Wen Jiabao Leaves Copenhagen for Home

On December 18, 2009, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao left for home by special plane after attending the leaders' meeting of the UN climate change conference in Copenhagen, capital of Denmark. During his three-day stay in the Danish capital, Wen exchanged views with nation leaders and heads of international organizations including Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, U.S. President Barack Obama and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. He called on all parties to act on the basis of reality, fully demonstrate political will, take care of each other's concerns, rapidly build consensus and seek an effective way of pushing forward the negotiation process. On December 18, Premier Wen delivered a speech entitled "Build Consensus and Strengthen Cooperation to Advance the Historical Process of Combating Climate Change" at the opening session of the leaders' meeting of the U.N. climate change conference, comprehensively expounding the position, proposals and measures of the Chinese government on climate change.
