On April 13^th, 2004, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui held consultations with Franz von Daniken, State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland.

The two sides made positive comments on the development of China-Switzerland relations in recent years, expressing hopes to further boost cooperation between the two countries in political affairs, economy, trade, culture, science, technology, tourism and some other fields. The two sides also exchanged views on international issues of common interest. Franz von Daniken reaffirmed that the Swiss government adheres to the One-China policy and is relieved to see the release of the 7 kidnapped Chinese citizens in Iraq.

The delegation headed by Mr. Franz von Daniken arrived in Beijing on April 12^th for a two-day visit at the invitation of Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui.
