Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Cuts Ribbon for the Photo Exhibition on the 40th Anniversary of China Dispatching Medical Team to South Sudan

On August 9, 2011, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi who was on an official visit to South Sudan and South Sudan's Foreign Minister Deng Alor jointly cut the ribbon for the photo exhibition on the 40th anniversary of China dispatching medical team to South Sudan and then visited the exhibition. Charge d'affaires of the Chinese embassy in South Sudan Li Zhiguo and the under-secretary of South Sudan's foreign ministry were present there.

The photo exhibition is co-organized by the Chinese embassy in South Sudan and South Sudan's foreign ministry. Precious pictures of the Chinese medical team working in Juba, Wau and Malakal from 1971 to 1985 and the Chinese medical team of the United Nations peacekeeping force working in Wau since 2005 were displayed.

On the same day, Yang held cordial talks with Secretary-General of the Sudanese People's Liberation Movement Bakan. Visiting the photo exhibition, Bakan said that the pictures fully demonstrate the friendship of the Chinese people with the South Sudanese people. He himself was treated by the Chinese medical team when he was young. He appreciates that very much and still remembers the doctor's family name is Wang. He noted that the party, government and people of South Sudan will join hands with the Chinese side to lift the bilateral friendly relations to higher levels.
