Consul General Zha Liyou attends local philanthropic event

On September 21, at the invitation of Mr. Sadhan Pande, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Self Help Group and Self Employment, Government of West Bengal, Consul General Zha Liyou attended a philanthropic event held by Government of West Bengal in north Kolkata. More than 100 people including Mr. Bratya Basu, Minister of Science and Technology and Biotechnology & Forest, Mr. Gitanah Ganguly, President of Mohan Bagan Club and local people were present.

Consul General Zha Liyou was invited to give a speech. He highly appreciated West Bengal government for helping disadvantaged groups, and introduced China’s achievements in poverty alleviation and right protection of women and children in the past 70 years since the founding of the people’s Republic of China. He emphasized that Chinese Consulate was willing to work with West Bengal to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the above-mentioned fields for the benefit of people.

Minister Mr. Pande introduced the work and major achievements of West Bengal government in the field of poverty alleviation and social development. He thanked Consul General Zha Liyou for supporting local charity activities, and expressed his willingness to maintain close contact with Chinese Consulate to learn from China's relevant development experience and actively promote friendly exchanges between West Bengal and China.

Consul General Zha Liyou also donated clothes and other materials to local people on behalf of Chinese Consulate.

Ms. Zhou Yaoyao attended the activity.
